Dream Catchers
In Ojibwa (Chippewa) culture, a dreamcatcher (or dream catcher; Ojibwe asabikeshiinh, the inanimate form of the word for "spider" or bawaajige nagwaagan meaning "dream snare") is a handmade object based on a willow hoop, on which is woven a loose net or web. The dream catcher is then decorated with personal and sacred items such as feathers and beads.

Southwestern Dreamcatcher - Style 35153ReviewsThis dreamcatcher is beautiful with leather, beads, wood and detailed craftsman work. The price was more than excellent compared to dreamcatchers on other sites that were smaller and with less detail. My grandson and I were very pleased; he was so excited as his cousin has one. It arrived quickly and in excellent condition(new). I am extremely pleased!!! Beautiful Piece. I have gotten several compliments from visitors to my home very happy with this purchase. I love this dream catcher!!! I'm so glad that I didn't accept negatve comments regarding this! Actually, I would have purchased this much sooner if I didn't let the negative cause my hesitation. This is simply awesome! This dream catcher is very neat. I've never had one like this before and I really like it. Looks good on my wall to. Unlike the other 2 dreamcathcers I bought this one looks cloer to the original American Indian design, thoug h it is unfortuneately made in China. Still it is a great dreamcatcher. THe feathers, leather, and beads feel real enough. Average Rating:![]() |

DreamCatcher~ DreamCatcher Feathers~ Approx 4.5" Diameter 17" longReviewsThis is one of the prettiest dream catchers I have seen. My little girl loves it. It's made very well. It's very colorful, pink, purple and little bit of blue. Exactly as pictured. Not too large, not too small, just right at 16 inches long. Not authentically made, but the legend can still be passed on. My four year old daughter asked me for a Dream Cathcer because she was having nightmares. Of course I turned to Amazon, the great witch-doctor. I must say that these little cuties do the trick. My daughter feels much better about going to bed knowing her Catcher is working while she sleeps. Average Rating:![]() |

Kenny Rogers - Live by RequestReviewsKenny Rodgers is an outstanding performer and has produced a CD that not only representds his music well but alos his comments and stories are great. Absolutely terrific! I saw Kenny Rogers in person, and was completely blown away! His singing is extraordinary, and his personality and show-man ship is simply wonderful! If you like Kenny Rogers, you won't be sorry if you buy this DVD. First I just want to say that I'm a big fan of Kenny Rogers so I might be biased but I'll try to be objective. This is the live version of his album. every song begin (on separate tracks) with an interview (or request by audience) by the MC about the next songs. I like the introduction section (between songs) the Pros (from those who likes it): 1. It's different from the original, something fresh and new. 2. Still the same great voice from Kenny though 3. Feels live when listening 4. Knows a bit more about Kenny Rogers (from the interview), his personality, and the history of each songs . Also some story/sharing from the requestor on why they request this songs. 5. One or two songs are not released in any other album the Cons (from those who hates it): 1. Not the original recording 2. some shorter version of the songs (not complete songs. i.e. missing a verse etc) 3. the request tracks between the songs are annoying I personally like this DVD, it gives me something different, and it happen to have all (or almost all) the songs that I like. I would recommend people to get this DVD. For Kenny Roger's new fan, check out "21 Number Ones" album, "the greatest hit" album and the "Kenny Rogers live by request". Also check the new Water and Bridges album. The song "I can't unlove you" is a hit. Here are some of my all time Kenny Rogers favorite songs (almost all of them available in the "21 Number Ones" album. I call this list, Kenny Rogers essential: The Gambler Through The Years Lady Lucille Coward of The County We've Got Tonight (with Sheena Easton) Crazy Islands In The Stream (with Dolly Parton) She Believes In Me You Decorated My Life Make No Mistake, She's Mine (with Ronnie Milsap) Daytime Friends Love Or Something Like It Love Will Turn You Around Morning Desire The Factory Twenty years ago Don't Fall In Love With A Dreamer (with Kim Carnes) Ruby, Don't take your love to town Buried treasure I don't call him daddy She's ready for someone to love her -------------------------------------------------- Updated Dec 15th: I went to see Kenny Rogers live recently (his greatest hits and chrismas song concert.) I had a blast, simply amazing. I recommend all Kenny Rogers fans to visit his concert Live at least once. (We never know how many more years he will do his tour but I do hope for many more years to come) This is one of my favourite DVD'S - I think its great. Despite the talking to the callers with their requests I found the stories Kenny spoke about interesting. Good band and Kennys song SLOW DANCE MORE a new song for me - gets replayed!! My Mom is a huge Kenny Rogers fan and I bought this for her. She loves it and I must admit that I enjoyed it alot. A great gift for any Kenny Rogers fan. Average Rating:![]() |

Though a little older and a little more gruff, Kenny Rogers is still a charmer who knows how to rope in an audience and keep them happily captive. Kenny Rogers: Live by Request (2001) is an hour and a half of the country artist's greatest hits and audience favorites backed by a tight and smooth band... |

She Rides Wild HorsesReviewsThis is a great CD if you like Kenny Rogers. He has a really good talent and a great voice. This album is a must have for all fans of Kenny Rogers. There are some fabulous ballads on it especially Buy Me A Rose. I've been a Kenny Rogers fan all my 24 years of life on this planet! And this is the greatest comeback any ledgend can have! This album has some of the best music Kenny has recorded! "Buy Me a Rose" is one of the best! The song actually went to #1 on the Country Charts! Kenny's first #1 since "Make No Mistake, She's Mine" back in the late 80's! But I would suggest this album for any true country music fan! I do not consider myself the biggest Kenny Rogers fan. In fact, I have only this and Ten Years Of Gold. This is definetley the greatest country album from the past 10 years.Slow Dance More- One of the best on the album and should have went farther than it did. Buy Me a Rose- A number 1 hit. A great love song. I Will Remember You- I have to say this is better than the original version. Love Don't Live Here Anymore- The backup singers make a great song an awesome song. She Rides Wild Horses- 2nd best on album Kind of Fool Love Makes- Another good love song. Loving Arms- I enjoyed this song but not the greatest on the album I Can't Make You Love Me- My least favorite but it's still great Let It Be Me- excellent ballad The Greatest- Kenny saved the best for last.I think Kenny Rogers is the one of the greatest country singers ever and this is one of his best. He had a concert on A&E and I watched it to hear some of his older songs (especially The Coward of the County) and he performed several songs from this album which covinced me to buy it. I Like Kenny Rogers because he is a great singer and the music to this cd is very good Average Rating:![]() |

Pop-country warbler Kenny Rogers's 1999 "comeback" album features a pair of hit singles that returned him to the top of the country charts after a long absence: the lovely, sentimental "Buy Me a Rose" (featuring gorgeous support vocals from Alison Krauss) and "The Greatest," an even more sentimental story-song penned by Don Schlitz, the same celebrated Nashville songwriter who gave Rogers his 1978 smash "The Gambler... |

Flesh Is the LawReviewsI just bought this and was blown away. The music scene is so lame right now and this picked me right up..... burned my speakers up too. If I could describe it it would be.... Wendy O. Williams, fronting Marilyn Manson, circa Anti Christ Super Star, while on tour with Pigface. Awesome... grab a copy now. Put out a new one please. ive been a fan of genitorturers for awhile all their albums have been great over the years along with this one but it leaves you wanting more only because it has three new songs and the rest are live songs from previous albums which are good i would give it a three is that this seven tracks mini album from 2002 is still their latest CD, 2 years are a very long time for Gen addicts who suffer and crave for more! The album title is really fitting: Flesh Is The Law... and Gen does strictly obey and enforce this rule! The music is somehow in-between the industrial-metal approach of their first album "120 Days Of Genitorture" and their follow up "Sin City" which is different in style, more industrial and techno and less metal. Flesh Is The Law is closer to the harder debut album while the industrial edge isn't neglected at all. So it fits perfectly in the new century without coming even close to the mainstream or nu-metal crap. The beautiful and talented Gen and her troop may be crucified by moralists, but what they do is just being refreshing honest and this puts the band always in a league on the top, a notch above the stage roleplayers who simply think "sex sells". Flesh is the law so she believes, and if it makes her a lecher bitch, then so be it. She's rather the public enemy #1 for telling the truth than a hypocrite. If you can deal with that, THE GENITORTURERS are for you, otherwise you can always opt for Britney Spears. But give it at least a try with them, you won't regret it! Average Rating:![]() |

Check out these other great items Native American Art.
While dreamcatchers originated in the Ojibwa Nation, during the pan-Indian movement of the 1960s and 1970s they were adopted by Native Americans of a number of different Nations. They came to be seen by some as a symbol of unity among the various Indian Nations, and as a general symbol of identification with Native American or First Nations cultures. However, some Native Americans have come to see them as "tacky" and over-commercialized due to their acceptance in popular culture.
Traditionally, the Ojibwa construct dreamcatchers by tying sinew strands in a web around a small round or tear-shaped frame of willow (in a way roughly similar to their method for making snowshoe webbing). The resulting "dream-catcher", hung above the bed, is then used as a charm to protect sleeping children from nightmares. Dreamcatchers made of willow and sinew are not meant to last forever but instead are intended to dry out and collapse over time as the child enters the age of adulthood.
The Ojibwa believe that a dreamcatcher filters a person's dreams. According to Terri J. Andrews in the article "Legend of the Dream Catcher," about the Ojibwa nation in the magazine World & I, Nov. 1998 page 204, "Only good dreams would be allowed to filter through . . . Bad dreams would stay in the net, disappearing with the light of day."
It's recommended to hang the dream catcher above someone sleeping to guard against bad dreams. Good dreams pass through and slide down the feathers to the sleeper.
Another legend (Lakota), according to St. Joseph's Indian School in Chamberlain, South Dakota, "Good dreams pass through the center hole to the sleeping person. The bad dreams are trapped in the web, where they perish in the light of dawn."
